Graduated in 1995 from the Veterinary School at the University of Parma in Italy. In ’96, he attended a 6 month externship in Australia furthering his studies in the areas of equine reproduction and anesthesia. Beginning in ’98, he developed an interest in equine ophthalmology, which he has sought to further through courses held in Italy organized by SOVI. During 2000, he attended numerous courses such as “Equine Ophthalmology” at Liverpool University (UK) and “Basic Science Course in Veterinary Ophthalmology” at North Carolina State University. At NCSU he also attended a few externship periods in 2000, 2002, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2015. In 2007, he attended the course “Intraocular Surgery for Advanced Surgeons – small animals” (Berlin) and in 2009 “Intraocular Surgery for Advanced Surgeons – Horses” (Berlin). He has been invited as a speaker for both short presentations and as a guest speaker at SOVI and SIVE meetings, as well as speaker and instructor in national and international courses (VetPD – Sweden 2012, AGP-Meeting – Germany 2012). In 2009, he took part in the creating the IEOC (International Equine Ophthalmology Consortium) and he is currently Past President (2020-2021). He has been working since 2002 as an Equine Ophthalmology Consultant in northern Italy. Author of original manuscripts in Italian (Ippologia) and International journals (Veterinary Ophthalmology) he’s also co-author in the first, second and third textbook edited by BC Gilger “Equine Ophthalmology” (2005, 2011, 2017) and in the second edition of “Oftalmologia Veterinaria” ed. Poletto (2016). |
